Located on a one-acre hillside property by the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, Desert Boom tells a story of rebirth and resilience. After losing their home to a catastrophic explosion in 2022, the clients sought a new dwelling that aligned with insurance requirements and enhanced their living experience.
This two-story residence is influenced by its proximity to the rugged terrains of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, offering sweeping views of the mountains and distant downtown Phoenix. This geographical intimacy is echoed in the home’s design, with every space oriented to maximize these panoramas.
Upon entering the lower level, visitors are greeted by planes of Jerusalem Stone that conceal a floating staircase crafted from wood and steel, leading to the main living areas above. An elevator supports aging in place, ensuring the home adapts to the family’s evolving needs. This lower level hosts guest accommodations, including two bedrooms with ensuite facilities and access to a pool deck featuring a large pool surrounded by lush landscape
The main level is a celebration of transparency and light. The great room extends into a kitchen and dining area, framing desert and city views. Wood ceilings and flooring lead the eye toward the outdoors. The kitchen’s countertop, with a foldable window system, seamlessly facilitates an unbroken engagement with nature. Strategic window placement enhances indoor-outdoor connectivity, particularly on the patio and the “sky deck,” which offers an exclusive vantage point for sunset views over downtown softened by the treetops.
